11 Years since the National Apology

Today marks the 11th Year Anniversary of the National Apology delivered by Kevin Rudd as a recommendation of the “Bringing Them Home Report”: A National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from Their Families.

We acknowledge the hurt, trauma and pain inflicted on our old people, and those affected today by these unjust and inhumane policies and laws. We acknowledge those generations that continue to deal with the inter generational trauma that these policies inflicted on our families, communities and friends.

To those old people and our communities, let’s continue to walk our journey of healing, together as a community, asserting and reclaiming our culture, language and country.

To our old people, you are our heroes, we love you! Thank you for giving us the beautiful gift of being part of the world’s oldest continuing living culture!
