The Coffs Harbour & District Local Aboriginal Land Council (CH&DLALC) announces its intent to tender an EOI into the future management of the formally known “Coffs Harbour Deep See Fishing Club”.

Glen Rennie the Chief Executive Officer today announced “CH&DLALC intended to pursue an interest in the future operation of the now disused building”. He confirmed this was an opportunity for both of the Local Governments (CH&DLALC and Coffs Harbour City Council) to action a long term hole of community desire to establish Coffs Harbours first and only ‘Cultural Centre’.coffs20club_6c2ee9e0-f9dd-11e4-bca802f1e287cc4f-300x199

Mr Rennie expressed disappointment over the recent closure of the venue however, he also expressed the need to secure the building for the Coffs Communities rather than it being redeveloped by a ‘For Profit entity’.

The Coffs community have visioned for many years and expressed its desires for a cultural centre in Coffs Harbour, surveys conducted by CHCC have listed the same as a high priority; a cultural centre is today high on the priorities for CHCC – Mr Rennie said.

CH&DLALC encourages the proactive and expedient approach to utilising the venue to meet the needs of community in consultation with community as to avoid the building falling into disrepair – the CEO said.
