Tenants survey

Tenants survey were sent out in July 2018, however only 10 surveys were returned to CH and DLALC. It is important for CH and DLALC tenants to complete surveys to assist CH and DLALC to improve services and make necessary changes for the future.

Housing waiting list:

There has been confusion regarding CH and DLALC eligibility criteria. Under CH and DLALC Housing & Tenancy Management Policies specifies housing waiting list eligibility criteria. This is as follows:

  • Be Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander person
  • Member of CH and DLALC
  • Confirmation of Aboriginality
  • Reside within the CH and DLALC boundaries

Not eligible for housing with CH and DLALC

  • Applicant was a previous tenant and left outstanding rent and or water arrears and or property damage.
  • Applicant/s has shares or owns property
  • Applicant/s housed in social housing
  • Applicant is not a current member of CH and DLALC
  • Applicant does not reside within the CH and DLALC boundaries
  • Applicant/s cannot provide confirmation of Aboriginality

Low income earns rent is lower than market rent.  Tenants earning above $55,000 per year will be charged market rent.

Tenants Meetings

Three tenants meeting were held this year,

  • All tenants
  • Wongala Estate
  • Red Rock

Thank you to; Kevin Wilson Aboriginal Community Liaison Office and Daniel Dunn Crime Prevention Officer who were guess speakers. Kevin Wilson come to support tenants and talk about his job role. Daniel Dunn come to give ideas on how to keep your home safe.  Attendance were low, at the tenants meetings. It would be muchly appreciated if tenants could provide feedback on what times and days would assist in tenants participation.
