Now in its 13th year, the Coffs Harbour Harmony Festival is the authentic home culture on the Coffs Coast! Along with the region’s finest cultural performance groups and world music acts, this year’s event takes an even more adventurous twist with 2 exciting new zones added and a spotlight on amazing, delectable, locally-produced cultural food.
~ EAT ~
Experience exotic food from all corners of the globe – explore a huge array of mouth-tingling mix of authentic home cooking & street food in a one-of-a-kind dining experience you just won’t find at any other local markets & events. Who are the people in your flavourhood? Journey deeper into whole food experience at Flavourhood – with cooking demos and a live cross-cultural cook off, immerse yourself in the rich history, stories and people behind the food then sample their freshly cooked delights.
~ MAIN STAGE ~
Enjoy all day live entertainment – a cross-cultural melange of non-stop acts from just down the road and around the world. Bring a picnic blanket and kick back and enjoy the cream of local talent from across Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East and right here from beautiful Gumbaynggirr Country.
~ DANCE ~
The Beats & Feets tent is your all-day dance space. Delve into cultural dance and drumming workshops from around the world or join the fun as communities host the space, sharing simple cultural dances that everyone is welcome to join together in and share the celebration.
~ IMMERSE & CONNECT ~
Experience the warmest of welcomes at The Melting Pot – our authentic cultural immersion space where the buzz of an overseas marketplace meets the warmth of a cultural community lounge room. Share in traditional coffee ceremony, get decorated in Henna, get your hands in some clay and share stories with cultural elders and so much more.
~ PLAY ~
Explore Planet Coffs – our huge fully immersive ECO-FRIENDLY creative adventure zone! Connect to country, make and create through a gamut of hands-on craft activities for all ages and deepen your connection to the natural wonders of this place we all call home.
Make an origami whale with Japanese artists in our marine inspired wonderland. Decorate your own steam punk animal mask. Go wild in the ever popular cardboard cubby kingdom. Roll up and have a ball in the playdough palace.
Make your own coastal emu costume and work with local Aboriginal artists to make and decorate other massive puppets and props of threatened local species and then bring them to life in the community parade!
Celebrate Aussie surf culture, whilst helping create a culturally inspired mural on VW Kombi shaped tent. Up for something a bit more physical? See how long you can survive the wild waves in the ‘So You Think You Can Surf?’ challenge. Ride the mechanical surfboard for as long as you can as we seek to uncover who in the community truly is Coffs Coast’s best wild wave warrior.
~ CELEBRATE! ~
The non-stop action all comes to a massive culmination at 2pm with the drumming in of the community parade! Led by traditional Gumbaynggirr dancers – join the procession with over 50 samba drummers or just soak up the spectacle as together we parade through the festival grounds to the main stage climax with a gigantic cross-cultural dance off and explosive colour run!
All this and so much more..
Celebrating everyone’s journey to calling Coffs home, Harmony Festival is a fun, vibrant, welcoming, hands-on and interactive whole-of-community celebration, that celebrates the people of our beautiful coast-side home – from the oldest inhabitants to the newest arrivals and everyone in between – our connection to country and our diversity as a strength.
