The preferred concept design for the Coffs Harbour By-pass has been released by the NSW Road and Maritime and is now open for community feedback. The Coffs Harbour and District Local Aboriginal Land Council were engaged to undertake an initial Aboriginal culture and heritage assessment of the bypass corridor. The current design of the by-pass has the inclusion of cuttings, which will significantly affect Gumbaynggirr culture and heritage. The Coffs Harbour and District Aboriginal Land Council do no support the concept of cuttings, and will only the original concept design for tunnels, which will better preserve Gumbaynggirr Culture and Heritage. We are encouraging all members and Aboriginal community to attend one of the many community meetings, and oppose the preferred concept design. The schedule public meetings are as follows:

Thursday, 11 October from 7pm – 8:30pm, Coffs Harbour PCYC

Saturday, 13 October from 9am – 12pm, Coffs Harbour Golf Club

Thursday, 18 October from 4pm – 7pm, Coffs Harbour Golf Club
