National Sorry Day provides an opportunity for people to come together and share the journey towards healing for the Stolen Generations, their families and communities.

On the 26th of May 1997 the Bringing them Home report was tabled in federal parliament. Bringing them Home is the final report of the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from Their Families and was conducted by the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (now called the Australian Human Rights Commission) between 1995 and 1997.
On 26 May 1998, the first National Sorry Day was held to commemorate the anniversary of the report and remember the grief, suffering and injustice experienced by the stolen generations.

We would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to our people for their resilience to this day of an ongoing oppression of our culture, families, communities still keeping the fire burning of many children being forcibly removed and targeted as a problem that needs fixing rather than adhering to the truth and restore the identity of this continent and it’s First People.
This is an important day for all to reflect and look upon healing because ❤️💛🖤 sorry means you don’t do it again
